Gilman Springs Road Safety Improvement Project 2024

 Project Overview

GILMAN SPRINGS ROAD SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

On September 9, 2024, the County of Riverside Transportation Department began a safety improvement project on approximately 4 miles of Gilman Springs Rd. from 1.7 miles south of Alessandro Blvd. to approximately 1 mile south of Bridge St.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

WHEN: September 9, 2024, through Spring 2025

WORK PLAN: Work will be completed starting with nighttime work, followed by a planned full road closure from October 5 through November 21, 2024. A second full road closure is planned in January 2025. Between full road closures, crews will be working off the roadway.

ROAD CLOSURE: Gilman Springs Road will be closed 24/7 between north of Bridge St. and south of Alessandro Rd. through November 21, 2024. Resident and business access is available with a project pass. There will be no access north of Bridge Street; the roadway is removed for construction of a wildlife crossing. Bridge Street will remain open.

Work Hours: Crews are working day and night, 7 days per week during the road closure.

The Project:

  • Widens the pavement and creates a 4-foot-wide center median

  • creates 6-foot-wide paved shoulders so motorists can safely pull off the road

  • constructs an approximately 1-mile-long northbound passing lane.

  • completes drainage improvements, regrades shoulders and slope edges.

  • Construct a new raised concrete median with reflective delineation and centerline rumble strips between Alessandro Blvd and approximately 1 mile south of Bridge Street.
