The County of Riverside is proposing to widen the existing pavement on North Indian Canyon Road between 20th Ave and Dillon Road, providing 2 lanes of travel in each direction between the Garnet Ave and Dillon Road for a total length of 1.5 miles. North Indian Canyon Road is currently a 2 lane facility through the project limits. The proposed improvement include reconstructing and resurfacing portions of the existing pavement, in addition to the widening. The project will also including the installation of a new traffic signal at Dillon Road, including the construction of a left turn lane at each leg of the intersection.
The project would result in utility relocation and adjustments to power poles, manholes, utility vaults, water valves, pedestals and water meters. The project would also result in the relocation of private improvements such as walls and fences. Right of Way acquisition is anticipated.
The County is partnering with the Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG), City of Palm Springs, and City of Desert Hot Springs in order to construct this project. The Coachella Valley Area Transportation Study, a valley-wide study prepared under the auspices of CVAG, has identified the North Indian Canyon Resurfacing Project as being of regional importance.
