Polk Sidewalk/Resurfacing

Project Description

The Riverside County Transportation Department (RCTD) proposes to rehabilitate 1.00 mile of Polk Street from Airport Boulevard to 58 Avenue Polk Street is a two lane arterial road with an average daily traffic of 2,100 cars per day. Polk Street varies in width from 24 feet to 53 feet. The right-of-way between project limits is 64 feet to the left and 30 feet to the right of centerline. The proposed improvements consist of pulverizing the existing Asphalt Concrete (AC) and compacting to 95%, and overlaying the grinding with 0.35 feet of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA). The improvements also include: 1) re-striping the existing road; 2) placing safety edge; 3) grading shoulder backing; 4) install sidewalk/ curb and gutter; 5) install 4 new curb ramps; 6) reconstruct 2 existing access ramps to current ADA standards and 5) replacing signs. Polk Street will remain the same width and will not be widened. Polk Street will be raised by 0.35 feet and will need shoulder backing placed on both sides of the edge of pavement. No additional right-of-way will be required.
