PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE Van Buren Boulevard Widening Project
What is Being Planned?
The Riverside County Transportation Department (County), in cooperation with the City of Riverside, is proposing to widen Van Buren Boulevard from approximately King Avenue eastward to Bountiful Street, a total distance of approximately 2.5 miles. The project would widen Van Buren Boulevard from four lanes to six lanes and include right-turn pockets at major intersections. Existing sidewalk, driveways, and curb returns would be reconstructed in compliance with the current accessibility standards. The proposed project would also require relocation of existing utilities. The purpose of the proposed project is to improve traffic operations within the project corridor.
Why This Notice?
The County is in the process of preparing studies in support of the environmental document that is being prepared in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act. These studies will investigate what effects this project may have on the environment. The environmental document that explains the potential effects of the project is called an Initial Study.
Where Do You Come In?
An open house style meeting regarding the proposed project will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Woodcrest Elementary School located at 16940 Krameria Avenue, Riverside, CA 92504. There will be a brief presentation at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will give you an opportunity to learn about the project and discuss it with project representatives.
