Indian Canyon

North Indian Canyon Widening

Project Overview


Phase 1

Limit: 20th Avenue to 18th Avenue
Length: 4,000’ (0.75 miles)
District: 4
City:   Cities of Desert Hot Springs and Palm Springs

The County of Riverside, in cooperation with the Cities of Desert Hot Springs and Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG), is proposing reconstruct and widen portions of the northbound lane between 20th Avenue and 19th Avenue and widen both side of the road between 19th Avenue and 18th Avenue to provide two through lanes in both direction between the project limits.

Other associated work includes:

·         Construction of new curb and gutter

·         Utility Relocations and Adjustments

·         Removal and replacement of existing striping, markings, and markers

·         Removal/Salvaging of existing signs and replacement with new signs

Right of Way will need to be acquired for the project.

PHASE 1 project schedule

  • Environmental:               Completed November 2017

  • Design:                          October 2018

  • Construction Start:          Spring 2019

  • Construction End:            Summer 2019

 

 

Phase 2

Limit: 18th Avenue to Dillon Road
Length: 3,000’ (0.60 miles)
District: 5
Community: North Palm Springs

The County of Riverside, in cooperation with the Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG), is proposing to widen along both side of North Indian Canyon Road to provide 2 lanes of travel in each direction within the project limits.  The project also includes the installation of a new Traffic Signal at the intersection of North Indian Canyon Drive and Dillon Road, which will include additional widening to maintain two through lanes and a left turn pocket at each leg of the intersection.

Other associated work includes:

·         Construction of new curb, gutter, and sidewalk at select locations

·         Construction of ADA compliant curb ramp 

·         Removal and relocation of private improvement such as walls, fence, and gates

·         Removal of existing vegetation

·         Utility Relocations and Adjustments

·         Removal and replacement of existing striping, markings, and markers

·         Removal/Salvaging of existing signs and replacement with new signs

Right of Way will need to be acquired for the project.

 Phase 2 Schedule:

  • Environmental:                 Completed November 2017

  • Design:                             February 2019

  • Construction Start:          Summer 2019

  • Construction End:            Fall 2019
