Project Overview
On Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023, the Riverside County Transportation Department will begin a NIGHTTIME safety improvement project to install a concrete center median on Ramona Expressway.
Later this Spring, construction will begin on a new traffic signal in the intersection of Bridge Street and Ramona Expressway.
A 22-inch-wide by 8-inch-high concrete center median will be installed on 8.5 miles of Ramona Expressway from approximately ¾-of-a-mile east of Rider Street near Perris, to Warren Road. Please plan for delays and use alternate routes when available.
The project also will include
• 2-foot-wide drainage openings intermittently in the project area
• Maintaining all existing driveway access
• Restriping and adding roadway signage
• Openings for emergency vehicles in the median
Work Hours
Nighttime Work
8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Sunday night through Friday morning
No planned work on weekends or on County holidays
The construction schedule may change due to weather and field condition.
Lane Closures and Traffic Impacts
• One lane will be closed with one lane open in the project area during construction.
• The lane closures will be approximately 2 miles each night.
• Traffic flaggers and a pilot car will lead traffic through the construction zone one direction at a time; expect delays.
• The project will start at the west end near Rider Street and continue east. Construction crews will be working in the eastbound lane, the westbound lane will be open for vehicles.
Reduce speed limit to 35 mph during construction.
Please plan for delays and use an alternate route.
