This Fall, the Riverside County Transportation Department will begin a resurfacing project to replace deteriorated roadway in the Idyllwild village. The project will grind and resurface about one-half of a mile of roadway on Park Lane, Ridgeview Drive, North Circle Drive and Village Center Drive.
RCTD secured nearly $1.2 million in SB-1 funding to complete this priority project. The project is expected to take about six weeks, and it will be completed while Caltrans is repairing damage caused by storms on SR-243 and SR-74.
In an effort to minimize further construction-related disruption to Idyllwild businesses, residents and visitors, the start of this important repaving project will coincide with the ongoing highway repair work. The contractor will coordinate access with the businesses in and around the village.
RCTD staff is planning a meeting on September 4 to discuss the project and to hear from the community and businesses, so that we can work together to make the project a success while minimizing disruption to the community.
Timeline: Mid-September through October 2019
Work Hours: 8am to 6pm, Monday through Friday. No weekend work expected. No work on October 11 and 14.
Access: Lane closures with traffic control to flag vehicles through. Access to businesses will be coordinated.
Cost: Approximately $1.2 million in SB-1 funding
