Construction Alert August 14 - Gilman Springs Road

Nighttime Lane Closure on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, 8 PM - 5 AM.

On Wednesday night, one lane will be closed for approximately one mile on Gilman Springs Road between Alessandro Boulevard and Bridge Street. The remainder of Gilman Springs Road will be open.

A flagging operation will be in place to direct vehicles through the work zone. Please plan for delays and drive carefully in the construction area.

The closure is planned for one night so crews can grind asphalt on a rough area of the road to provide a smoother ride for motorists.

Project Update

Last week, crews completed final paving and the first coat of striping on Gilman Springs Road.

This week, crews will complete final striping and add the rumble strip, guardrail, and thermoplastic pavement markings.

Progress on the Bridge Street traffic signal installation continues during daytime hours. Please reduce speed in the construction zone.

Project Update

On Monday night, June 3, construction related closures for the Gilman Springs Road Resurfacing project begin. Road or lane closures on Gilman Springs Road are possible every night from 8 pm to 5 am, through July. Please see the closure schedule below. Local residents and businesses, along with emergency vehicles, will have access through the checkpoint. On Highway 60, the Gilman Springs Road exit will close during nighttime work. Motorists may follow the posted detour onto Highway 79.

The project will rehabilitate the roadway in both directions during nighttime hours from south of Highway 60 to Highway 79. Crews also will be installing a new traffic signal at the Gilman Springs Road and Bridge Street intersection during daytime working hours from 7 am to 5 pm.

Gilman Springs Road to close at night for resurfacing project

Project rehabilitates nine miles of roadway between SR-60 and SR-79 during nighttime work

Gilman Springs Road, a major traffic artery between Highway 60 and the San Jacinto Valley, will be closed periodically at night for about two months as crews complete a resurfacing project.

The nighttime closures begin the week of June 3 and work will be completed sometime in July. Motorists can use a detour that takes them from Highway 79 through Lamb Canyon onto Highway 60 in Beaumont.

Gilman Springs Road could be closed on Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Single lane closures, with pilot car escorts for motorists, may be scheduled for Friday and Saturday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. On Highway 60, the Gilman Springs Road exit will close during nighttime work. Local residents and businesses, along with emergency vehicles, will have access through the checkpoint.

Crews also will install a traffic signal at the intersection of Gilman Springs Road and Bridge Street. The majority of the traffic signal work will take place during daytime hours, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with major street closures planned to coincide with Gilman Springs Road nighttime closures. 

No work is scheduled on Saturday, June 1, on Friday, June 21, or from July 4-7 during the Independence Day weekend.
