Wood Road Resurfacing & Slurry Seal

Limits: Cajalco Road to Mariposa Avenue
Length: Approximately 2.5 miles
District: 1
Community: Glen Valley

The County of Riverside Transportation Department is proposing to slurry seal approximately 1.5 miles of Wood Road from Cajalco Road to Markham Street and resurface approximately 1 mile of Wood Road from Markham Street to Mariposa Avenue. Wood Road is classified as a Secondary Highway in the County of Riverside General Plan. Wood Road is a two lane road and currently ranges from 34-47 feet wide with dike, curb/gutter, and sidewalk along various segments of the roadway. The proposed project will include pulverizing the roadway width, including up to 4 feet of the dirt shoulder, and overlaying the pulverized material with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) from Markham Street to Mariposa Avenue.

Additional improvements include:

  • Slurry seal from Cajalco Road to Markham Street

  • Construction or reconstruction of some driveways, some driveway tie-ins, and non-compliant ADA ramps

  • Asphalt concrete overside drains

  • Placement of asphalt concrete dike, shoulder backing, and rock slope protection

  • Utility adjustments

  • Detector loops

  • Striping of roadway, including pavement markers and reflectors

  • Salvage/removal and installation of new signs

No additional right-of-way or temporary construction easements will be required to construct the proposed improvements. The project improvements will raise the existing roadway profile by 0.40 feet.
