Length: Approximately 2.4 miles

District: 3

The County of Riverside Transportation Department is proposing to resurface approximately 2.4 miles of Whittier Avenue from San Jacinto Street to 500 feet east of Old Agency Road.  Whittier Avenue is classified as a Secondary Highway in the County of Riverside General Plan. Whittier Avenue is a two lane road and currently ranges from 20-64 feet wide with dike, curb/gutter, and dirt shoulder at various segments of the roadway. The proposed improvements consist of removing the existing asphalt and placing new Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) between San Jacinto Avenue and Lore Heights Court then pulverizing the existing asphalt and overlaying with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) from Lore Heights Court to 500 feet east of Old Agency Road.

Additional improvements include:

·         Reconstruction of asphalt concrete dike

·         Replacement of curb and gutter

·         Placement of new curb and gutter

·         Placement of safety edge, shoulder backing, miscellaneous asphalt concrete

·         Construct new sidewalk

·         Construct new curb ramps

·         Utility adjustments

·         Striping of roadway, including pavement markers and reflectors

·         Removal of Trees

·         Replace signs

No additional right-of-way or temporary construction easements will be required to construct the proposed improvements. The project improvements will maintain the existing profile west of Lore Heights Court and raise the roadway profile by 0.40 feet east of Lore Heights Court.
